Asia Pacific PhotoForum directors get together in Pingyao, China

November 2013

Representatives from four of the six existing member festivals of the APP, plus three from new member festivals, met in Pingyao, China, as part of the 13th Pingyao International Photo Festival, China's biggest such event.

The primary purpose of the meeting was to ratify the inclusion of five new festivals from the geographical area encompassing Asia, Oceania, and the Pacific rim. The new members are: Chiang Mai Documentary Arts Festival  [Thailand]; Guatephoto [Guatemala]; Chobi Mela [Bangladesh]; Seoul Photo Festival [South Korea]; and Fotografica [Bogota, Colombia].

Apart from the meeting where the new festivals were formally accepted into the APP, the directors participated in a panel discussion, moderated by APP ambassador Alasdair Foster, on the purpose and importance of festivals of photography throughout the Asia Pacific.
